Istanbul / İstanbul

To me, Istanbul is the most beautiful city in the world. The Bosporus, the charming neighborhoods, and history with every footstep. I spent 3 ½ years living there and always look forward to returning.

There are so many things to see in the city that I can’t fit them all on one page. I’ve broken everything down geographically into districts. Use the menu to navigate to the districts and see what you can find in each one.

Since Fatih covers such a large area and contains several neighborhoods, I’ve split it up into sections east and west of Atatürk Boulevard.

Zeytinburnu

Zeytinburnu is a district in Istanbul just west of the old city walls. It has a few points of interest that are worth seeking out.

Zeytinburnu was known as Kyklobion (Κυκλόβιον) or Strongylon (Στρογγυλόν) during Byzantine times. Throughout Ottoman times, it had a large minority concentration of Armenians, Greeks, Jews, and Bulgarians. In the 1950s, a wave of Anatolian immigrants moved in and Zeytinburnu grew quickly.

Kadıköy

Kadıköy is one of my favorite districts of Istanbul. The Moda area is modern and cosmopolitan with great food and nightlife, Bağdat Caddesi is a long stretch of road lined with luxury shops and restaurants, and the seaside is a wonderful place to relax.
