Cape Royal is located at the very end of Cape Royal Road at the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Picnic Area
After we finished up at Bright Angel Point, we drove all the way to Cape Royal and had a picnic in the most amazing setting. Gönül made some of her delicious gourmet sandwiches and of course we had typical camping food like potato chips and fresh fruit. Martin and I helped (a bit) while we enjoyed the fantastic scenery. After lunch, we rested for a bit.
The Trail
We then took the short trail, which is only 0.8 miles round trip, for some spectacular views of the Grand Canyon. The entire trail is paved and very easy.
There are some interpretive panels along the trail, and it’s possible to spot the Colorado River in the canyon.
One of the natural features on the trail is Angels Window, which actually has a viewpoint on top of it.
