We stayed in Troy for a few nights for my brother’s wedding. It’s a short drive from Detroit and is mostly known for business and shopping. There are lots of good hotels, several chain restaurants, and a few minor attractions.

Detroit Marriott Troy

Our hotel was the Detroit Marriott Troy. It’s not a place I would usually stay but it was the hotel for the wedding guests. It’s a typical Marriott.

Cantoro Trattoria

Our first dinner was at Cantoro Trattoria, a local Italian restaurant. The rehearsal dinner was held there. Dinner was family-style so we weren’t able to choose our own meals, but both the pasta and beef dishes were excellent.

Seasons 52

We also had dinner at Seasons 52, which is an upscale national chain. The food was decent but not incredible.

I started with the lobster bisque, which wasn’t as good as I had hoped, and had the scallops as my main course. Marisol had salmon. We both enjoyed the mains.

St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church

There are a few minor attractions in Troy, but the only one we visited was St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, the beautiful church where my brother got married. It opened in 1994 but the church was originally founded in 1936 in Detroit.
