Pripyat’s amusement park was set up for use during May Day and Victory Day celebrations. Because the Chernobyl disaster happened just days before the holidays, none of the attractions were ever used. The amusement park is one of the most photogenic areas in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.
I enjoyed photographing the Ferris Wheel more than any other part of the amusement park. It was the eeriest part of my visit to the Exclusion Zone, especially when I could hear the creaking of the metal in the wind that periodically broke the total silence.
