Fener

After the Fall of Constantinople in 1453, Fener became the main Greek district of the city. It’s full of charming Ottoman homes and a handful of Orthodox churches, including the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. Fener is a Turkish transliteration of the Greek word fanarion (φανάριον), which means “lantern”.
