In order to take a day trip outside of Tbilisi, a lot of people will have to use the so-called main “bus station” at Didube. “Chaos” is a better word. Once exiting the Didube metro station, I was overwhelmed. That doesn’t happen to me very often.
Tbilisi, Georgia. No, the country. Not the state.
Yes, there is a country called Georgia. And it’s much much more interesting than the state.
Konya is one of those cities that seems to get overlooked a lot. It isn’t a beautiful city by any means and is regarded as the most conservative city in Turkey. Many people also think the only draw is the tomb of Rumi. That’s not entirely true, but it’s definitely the biggest draw and the reason most tour buses roll through the area (and the top reason I went).
I did it! I rode the Marmaray. In under 5 minutes, I crossed the Bosporus in a tunnel and avoided certain death. Seriously, at the other end I was expecting to get an “I Survived the Marmaray!” t-shirt. At the very least they could’ve given me a cookie.
Every ferry route in Istanbul is fun to ride, but my favorite is the route between Kadıköy and Eminönü. It gives you some of the best vistas of the UNESCO World Heritage listed historic city and its famous landmarks.
The highlight of my short road trip in Canada was absolutely Québec City. I had wanted to visit the historic city on the St. Lawrence River for a very long time, and it was well worth the trip up from Montréal.
If you think it’s impossible for a human being to lose their passport between the front door of their house and their car in the driveway, think again. My ever-so-responsible brother somehow managed to do this within a 30 second window. After 2 hours of searching the house and tearing apart my car, I took off and headed to Toronto alone.
