Rozo is a village about 40 minutes from Cali, Colombia. It features a few family-friendly places to swim and have a relaxing day.
Introduction to Rozo
Rozo is a popular getaway from Cali. You’ll find waterparks like Tardes Caleñas (big and expensive but with slides and bumper boats), Siga La Vaca, and El Alba (smaller and more private). Our original plan was to visit El Alba but it was closed for the day. Instead, we went to Siga La Vaca.
Getting There
To get to Rozo, any bus heading north from Cali going “via Rozo” can let you off directly in front of where you need to go, except El Alba.
Siga La Vaca
We spent a day at Siga La Vaca, which is a waterpark resort featuring a restaurant, pools, and hotel. There’s an entrance fee for both adults and children that changes every year. The entrance fee for adults is COP$45,000 and COP$35,000 for kids age 4-10 (as of September 2023). All but COP$10,000 is deductible from any meals purchased. For example, if your meal costs COP$48,000, you pay COP$13,000 in the end.
Before and after lunch, we spent some time at the pools. There’s a small pool with a waterfall and a shallow kid’s pool. Both were clean and the water temperature was perfect for the hot day.
For lunch, we had baby beef. It came with a plantain, baked potato, and salad. The sides were great but the steak didn’t taste very fresh.
Parador de Rozo
If you’re just passing through, Parador de Rozo is a great place to stop and eat. They serve an excellent fiambre, which is several types of meat, rice, potato, and egg, all wrapped in a plantain leaf. There are other traditional Colombian dishes on the menu as well.
