Pueblo Tapao is a village in the Coffee Region of Colombia. It’s under the jurisdiction of the town of Montenegro.
Introduction to Pueblo Tapao
Pueblo Tapao was founded on January 31, 1978. It’s the nearest settlement to Parque del Café, one of the most popular tourist attractions in all of Colombia, and is full of accommodation for tourists. The town itself isn’t a tourist destination, but its location and laid-back atmosphere makes it a decent base for exploring this part of the Coffee Region.
Where to Stay in Pueblo Tapao
If you’re visiting Parque del Café and want to stay nearby, this village is a great option. There are lots of choices, from traditional hotels and vacation centers to country homes and cabins.
Hotel Veraneras del Quindío
Hotel Veraneras del Quindío is a cozy place in a traditional building right in the heart of town. It’s got a lot of character. The hosts are wonderful hospitable people that go out of their way to make you feel at home. They’ve been welcoming tourists from all over the world since 2004.
Our room was spacious and comfortable and very quiet at night. The balcony was a plus. We slept great and enjoyed a decent breakfast in the morning. The only negative is that the room needed a little more light at night.
If you have a chance, take some extra time to check out the hotel’s features. It’s decorated with traditional items and also has a balcony with fantastic views of the countryside.
Where to Eat in Pueblo Tapao
The street running through the village is full of restaurants serving traditional cuisine and local specialties such as morcilla (blood sausage), solteritas, empanadas, and arepas with cheese.
California Steak
California Steak is in a strip mall on the outskirts of town. It’s a friendly place servings steaks, burgers, chorizo, and other grilled specialties. I had a delicious juicy picanha that was cooked to perfection. Marisol wasn’t happy with her churrasco, which was very dry. The chorizo is also good as are the burgers. Prices are fair.
