It might be a great base to visit Arches and Canyonlands, but there’s not much going on in Moab itself. Aside from plenty of lodging, restaurants, and tour companies, the town is fairly quiet.
Highway 128 in Utah makes up the Upper Colorado River Scenic Byway. This road runs 44 miles from just north of Moab to I-70.

Six miles down Grand View Point Road from the Island in the Sky visitor center at Canyonlands National Park, you can right turn on Upheaval Dome Road. This road leads to a few great viewpoints and trails.
Canyonlands National Park is a diverse desert playground located near the town of Moab in southeastern Utah. The park offers views unlike anything I’ve ever seen and excellent hiking trails through primitive landscapes.
