Downtown Little Falls is small and compact. There are several late 19th and early 20th century historic buildings mostly situated along Broadway and 1st Street NE. A brochure highlighting each historic building in town can be picked up at one of the museums.
The Charles Lindbergh House and Museum in Little Falls, Minnesota, celebrates aviator Charles Lindbergh (1902-1974). It’s located just outside downtown.
The Minnesota Military Museum is about seven miles north of Little Falls at Camp Ripley, an active military camp run by the Minnesota National Guard. It’s located on the site of historic Fort Ripley, an 1849 outpost which existed until 1877.
The Mille Lacs Lake area is a great place for boating, walleye fishing, and several other outdoor activities (visit the official website to learn more), but it’s also home to the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe and an excellent museum on the Mille Lacs Indian Reservation.
For history buffs, the Pioneer Village gives a look at 19th century life in Nisswa, Minnesota. It’s located just north of the downtown at the Nisswa Area Historical Society.
The city of Brainerd, Minnesota, is located on the Mississippi River and is just a couple hours from Minneapolis.
