A very popular thing to do in Medellín is ride the Metrocable, which is the cable car system connected to the metro. My first ever experience with the Metrocable was at Line K at Acevedo Station (Estación Acevedo).

Once off the metro, walk up the stairs and transfer to the cable car. You don’t need to swipe your metro card again.

You can get on the cable car and ride it up to the top and back down again without getting off. The best views are actually while you are on the cable car. You’ll be able to see a bit of the life in the comuna down below.

Comunas

Some of the comunas of Medellín are likened to the favelas of Brazil, but are actually quite different in my opinion. What’s interesting is that the Metrocable and other projects have made life so much easier for people in some areas that crime has actually dropped significantly since their implementation.

Getting to Parque Arví

If you wish, you can change cars at Santo Domingo Savio, the third and last stop before the cable car turns around, to Line L. This takes you all the way to Parque Arví, a nature park above Medellín. The ride takes about 20 minutes, but I haven’t done it yet. I hope to get there on my next trip to Medellín, although I say that every time I visit.
