Lagkada (Λαγκάδα) is one of my favorite villages in Chios, Greece. It’s a small, picturesque fishing village. I stopped to wander through the village during a scenic drive through northern Chios with my friends.

The Village

The village is about 16km from the town of Chios. It’s inhabited mainly by fishing and merchant marine families. It’s very easy to walk through the village in just a few minutes along the harbor. You can see a small canal with a bridge over it and small fishing boats moored along the walls. There are also several good fish restaurants sitting along the peaceful harbor.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have a chance to try any of the restaurants because it was a little too early in the day. I’ll definitely make it a point to visit the village again to try the food, and perhaps stay overnight, as we noticed plenty of rooms for rent as we walked along the harbor.

Water Taxi

It is also possible to catch a water taxi to nearby islands of Oinousses from Lagkada. You can see the main town of Oinousses clearly from the harbor as well as the Karaburun Peninsula of Turkey in the background.
