Kardamyla (Καρδάμυλα) is a beautiful village in Chios, Greece. It’s separated into two parts – an upper village on the mountain and one near the sea, called Marmaro (Μάρμαρο). I stopped in the village during a scenic drive through northern Chios and spent most of my time in the upper village.

Upper Village

In the town square of the upper village, you will find a parking lot and a memorial square. There are also a few good tavernas serving delicious food. I stopped into one of them with my friends. It was closed but the owner happily opened the kitchen for us and made us an amazing meal.

While wandering through the upper village, you’ll find a lot of modern homes built next door to some crumbling brick homes from the 19th century. Some of the older homes have been nicely restored.

It’s worth checking out the church in the village and admiring the green landscape.

Marmaro

I didn’t spend too much time in Marmaro. I drove through it quickly and stopped to take a photo on the road to the upper village.
