This entry covers the second floor of Peleș Castle, located in Sinaia, Romania. It was the summer residence of Romanian King Carol I.
An optional tour of the second floor is available after seeing the first floor of Peleș Castle. The second floor contains more private rooms utilized by the royal family as well as several guest rooms. I don’t have much information about these rooms so this post will consist mostly of photos and information obtained from the guide.
First Rooms
In the first room I visited on a tour of the second floor of Peleş Castle, the guide indicated it was a recreational chamber reserved for the Queen. Next were a series of guest rooms followed by a secret door disguised as a cabinet.
Prince’s Room
The secret door led to the Prince’s room, which contains a bed, a desk, a wardrobe, and a table with chairs.
Guest Room
Another guest room, this time with a blue theme, followed. It has a section of the wall covered in blue and white ceramic tile. There’s also a bathroom with a nickel tub.
Royal Dentist’s Room
After admiring some stained glass windows off the Hall of Honour, we passed through the Royal Dentist’s Room.
German Room
Another pair of sitting rooms were next, followed by the German Room. The German Room has a few beer steins on display.
Royal Composer’s Room
The Royal Composer’s Room was often reserved for Romanian composer George Enescu (1881-1955), who was a frequent guest of Queen Elisabeth. It’s followed by another sitting room.
Queen Marie’s Painting Room
Next was Queen Marie’s painting room. Queen Marie was an accomplished artist and writer. She published 34 books and short stories during her lifetime.
Poet’s Room
The final room I visited on the second floor of Peleș Castle was the Poet’s Room. Inside is a small writing desk, sitting area, and a bed.
