Santa Cruz and Savaneta are two districts making up the central part of Aruba. They feature some popular natural and historic attractions.
Paradera is a district that makes up the north central section of Aruba east of Oranjestad. It’s known mostly for beautiful natural features.
Noord is the northernmost district of Aruba. It’s the tourist zone and where you’ll find the biggest resorts and some of the best restaurants. There are also lots of attractions in the area. I’ll list them here starting from the north and working my way south.
Chicamocha National Park (Parque Nacional del Chicamocha) is a large theme park in Colombia centered around the spectacular Chicamocha Canyon. It’s got lots of different attractions that are great for families, several good restaurants, and is good for a half or full day visit.
Broken Wagon Bison is located in Hobart, Indiana, near the small town of Wheeler. This bison ranch, open since 2003, is a fun and educational experience.
The National Aviary (Aviario Nacional) is Colombia’s premier bird sanctuary. It features over 1,800 birds from 138 different species and is the largest aviary in the Americas. It’s the best place to see some of Colombia’s rarest birds in one place.
Bioparque Ukumarí is a huge nature complex just outside Pereira in Colombia’s Coffee Region. When finished, it will have a zoo, a veterinary center, nature museum, anthropology museum, aquarium, 4D attractions, interactive games, and nature-related extreme sports. It will be the largest complex of its kind in Latin America.
Not too far outside Pereira is a great park for both kids and adults. Parque Consotá is a huge recreational area with sports fields, several swimming pools, a spa, nature trails, fishing ponds, paddle boats, a small zoo, restaurants, and a hotel. We took Marisol’s 6 year old nephew, David, to enjoy the park for a day.
Cerrillos is a small village in New Mexico. It sits along the Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway, not too far from Santa Fe.
