Piraeus is the port city of Athens and is just a short metro ride away from the city center. For most, it’s just a place to get on and off one of the many cruise ships or ferries that stop there.
Set strikingly on the side of a tall mountain is Krujë, the scene of Albania’s national moment of glory. It was here that the legend of Albanian hero Gjergj Kastrioti, aka Skënderbej, was born.
From Old Montréal (Vieux-Montréal), I hopped on the nearest metro line and made my way to Olympic Park (Parc Olympique). This is where the 1976 Summer Olympics took place. There are several events year-round held at the park and stadium.
The highlight of my trip to Toronto was my Mecca, the Hockey Hall of Fame. It’s located at Brookfield Place, an office complex consisting of two skyscrapers and the historic Bank of Montreal building. The complex is known for its atrium designed by Santiago Calatrava.
After my tour of Olimpiyskiy National Sports Complex in Kyiv, I noticed Dynamo Kyiv had a game a few days later against Illichivets Mariupol. I bought a ticket to the game and went to the stadium after my Soviet nuclear missile base tour.
While exploring Kyiv, I walked to the Olimpiyskiy National Sports Complex. It’s a huge stadium located in the city center.
Miskyi Sad Park is one of the gorgeous forested parks that sit along the Dnieper River in Kyiv. It sits just north of Mariyinskyi Park.
Martin and Gönül invited me to join them at the 2012 WTA Championships in Istanbul. This would be the very first tennis event that I would attend in person. It took place at the Sinan Erdem Dome (Sinan Erdem Spor Salonu) in the district of Bakırköy. We were only able to attend the first day of matches due to work commitments.
Belgradkapı is a neighborhood in Istanbul, Turkey, that straddles the old Theodosian Walls of Constantinople. It’s located in both the Zeytinburnu and Fatih districts, and north of the Yedikule neighborhood.
