Akadimia (Ακαδημία), which translates to “Academy”, is an important area of Athens full of impressive buildings and educational institutions.
Monastiraki is a neighborhood in the city center of Athens known for its flea market, archaeological sites, and entertainment.
The modern city center of Thessaloniki is the area near the sea. There are plenty of interesting things to find, including ancient ruins, Byzantine churches, post-Byzantine churches, and Ottoman buildings, but this post will focus on a few of the other places to visit.
From Konak Square (Konak Meydanı) there is direct access to Izmir’s historic bazaar district of Kemeraltı. A street with the funny name, Anafartlar Street (Anafartlar Caddesi), leads directly into the heart of the area.
Chios Town (Χίος), also called Chora (Χώρα) or sometimes Kastro (Κάστρο), is the capital of Chios, Greece, and the main city on the island. There are several points of interest and historic sites, along with a beautiful harbor lined with restaurants and cafés that are full of life day and night.
I explored downtown Montréal after visiting Olympic Park (Parc Olympique). There are some very interesting buildings and parks to be found.
After admiring the House with Chimaeras, I set out to explore the rest of central Kyiv.
I started my third day in Kyiv by taking the metro to Independence Square (Maidan Nezalezhnosti), the main square in the city. It’s where the Euromaidan protests began on November 21, 2013.
Following our visit to the West Bank of the Nile, the tour group arrived in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Luxor. Luxor was the ancient city of Thebes (Θῆβαι).
Being in Sharm el-Sheikh for nearly a week and leaving in just a day, we decided to get out of Na’ama Bay to see the old part of the city. We did this by taking a tour with a guide named Hamdy who drove us to a few points in the city.
