Dune Ridge Trail at Indiana Dunes National Park takes hikers through a diverse set of habitats in a short amount of time. It’s located in Beverly Shores, just south of Kemil Beach and the Century of Progress Homes.
Fort San Lorenzo (Fuerte San Lorenzo) is one of the most important sites in Panamanian history. It sits on a small promontory near the mouth of the Chagres River (Río Chagres). It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site along with the fortifications at Portobelo.
Covering 519 km² of area of Colombia’s western Andes Mountains is Tatamá National Park (Parque Nacional Natural Tatamá). This lesser-known park is spread out over the departments of Risaralda, Chocó, and Valle del Cauca and is one of the more inaccessible national parks in the country.

All of the tour companies in Paraty will offer jeep trips to waterfalls located in Serra da Bocaina National Park (Parque Nacional da Serra da Bocaina), a UNESCO World Heritage site. I highly recommend it.
