If you like to combine beer with your American history, the city of Golden, Colorado, can deliver. It boasts a great brewery and was once the capital of Colorado. This small city not too far from Denver and Boulder makes for a very enjoyable day trip.
North Platte, Nebraska, may not sound too exciting but it’s got a lot of history, making it a decent place to stop for a day. In this entry, I’ll write about the things I did on my day in North Platte. Visit the town’s official website for more info on what to do or special events taking place.
The Mille Lacs Lake area is a great place for boating, walleye fishing, and several other outdoor activities (visit the official website to learn more), but it’s also home to the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe and an excellent museum on the Mille Lacs Indian Reservation.
The small town of Guaduas, about two hours from Bogotá, was the birthplace of one of Colombia’s revolutionary heroes, Policarpa Salavarrieta. It’s also one of Colombia’s prestigious Heritage Towns (Pueblos Patrimonio), filled with small colonial buildings.
The town of Honda, Tolima, Colombia, doesn’t look like much when passing through, but get to the heart of the city and you’ll realize there’s more to it. Honda is one of the country’s prestigious Heritage Towns (Pueblos Patrimonio) and is known as Colombia’s “City of Bridges”.
River North is a neighborhood on the Near North Side of Chicago. It’s bound by the Chicago River to the south and west, Chicago Avenue to the north, and the Magnificent Mile to the east.
Chicago’s Magnificent Mile is quite magnificent. This stretch of Michigan Avenue on the Near North Side, from the Chicago River to Oak Street, is one of the greatest streets in America.
