Visiting

Peleș Castle is open to visitors daily except Mondays. Three tour packages are available. The ground floor only is 50 lei for adults, 12.50 lei for students, and 25 lei for pensioners; the ground floor and first floor is 100 lei for adults, 25 lei for students, and 50 lei pensioners; and the ground, first, and second floor is 150 lei for adults, 37.50 lei for students, and 75 lei pensioners (as of September 2024). Children under 7 are admitted free of charge. Photos are allowed indoors without flash. There’s no admissionfor the grounds of the castle, which is typically closed in November each year for maintenance and cleaning.

I highly recommend taking the time to visit the castle on a day trip from Bucharest or Braşov. It’s about a 20 minute walk from the train station in Sinaia.

The following entries are listed in order of my visit:

Pelișor Castle

Another smaller castle, Pelișor Castle, is also open Wednesday through Sunday. Admission is 30 lei for adults, 7.50 lei for students, 15 lei for pensioners, and free for children under 7 (as of September 2024). Tours take about 45 minutes. This castle was built near Peleș Castle in 1899 as a summer home for the future King Ferdinand I and his wife, the popular Queen Marie, a granddaughter of the British Queen Victoria and Tsar Alexander II of Russia. In fact, Queen Marie had much to do with the interior design of the castle.
