Duomo of Milan

The Duomo of Milan (Duomo di Milano) is one of Italy’s most iconic buildings and the most important structure in Milan. There’s are so many important elements of its construction and craftsmanship – both on the interior and exterior – that it could take several visits to fully appreciate what it has to offer. I spent nearly an hour exploring the cathedral and it was not enough at all.

Visiting

The Duomo is open daily from 9am to 7pm and has a few different options for visitors. Check the official website for more info. Tickets are typically valid for three days from the selected visit date. The following prices are current as of February 2024:

  • Duomo+Museum (€8): Duomo and Duomo Museum
  • Culture Pass (€10): Duomo, archaeological area, and the Duomo Museum
  • Culture Pass Plus (€13): Duomo, crypt, archaeological area, and Duomo Museum
  • Terraces only (by stairs) (€13)
  • Terraces only (by lift) (€15)
  • Duomo Terraces Museum – Stairs (€16): Duomo, Duomo Museum, and the terraces by stairs
  • Duomo Terraces Museum – Lift (€22): Duomo, Duomo Museum, and the terraces by stairs
  • Duomo+Ambrosiana (€30): Duomo, archaeological area, terraces by stairs, Duomo Museum, Ambrosiana Gallery and St. Sepolcro Crypt

If you’ve purchased a ticket that includes entry to the Duomo, you can add on two sections:

  • Archaeological area (€2)
  • Crypt (€3)

Note: The Duomo Museum, which includes the Church of San Gottardo, is closed Wednesdays.
