Tel Aviv, officially Tel Aviv-Yafo (تل أبيب – يافا / תל־אביב–יפו), is a lively city on the Mediterranean coast of Israel. It’s one of the Middle East’s “party capitals” and one of the most LGBTQ-friendly cities in the world.
Tel Aviv was founded in 1909 as a modern housing development on the outskirts of Jaffa. It was recognized as a township in 1921 and became independent from Jaffa in 1934. Tel Aviv grew quickly and eventually annexed Jaffa on April 24, 1950.
My experience in Tel Aviv lasted less than 24 hours and was limited to Jaffa, but I plan to spend more time there on my next trip to Israel.
