A brief guide on where to eat in Kadıköy, a neighborhood and district with some excellent choices for food and drinks. Most of my experience is in Kadıköy Çarşı and Moda, but there are also decent places in Caddebostan and Suadiye along Bağdat Avenue (Bağdat Caddesi).
Fenerbahçe is one of the most pleasant neighborhoods in Istanbul. It’s an upscale area located on the Asian side in the Kadıköy district.
Walking from Kadıköy or Moda towards Fenerbahçe, you’ll pass Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium. It’s the home of the Fenerbahçe football club and contains a museum and gift shop.
Bağlarbaşı is one of the busiest areas of the district of Üsküdar in Istanbul, Turkey. It’s easily accessible via a stop the M5 metro line.
Bağdat Avenue (Bağdat Caddesi) is one of the most important streets in not only the Kadıköy district of Istanbul, but the entire Asian side. It runs from east to west from Maltepe to Kadıköy for about 14 kilometers (8.7 miles).
Çamlıca Hill (Büyük Çamlıca Tepesi) is a place on the Asian side of Istanbul with phenomenal views of the city and the Bosporus. The Turkish name literally translates to Big Pine Tree Hill.
Selimiye is a neighborhood in the Üsküdar district of Istanbul. It’s full of military buildings, universities and schools, and hospitals.
Kadıköy is a neighborhood of the eponymous district on the Asian side of Istanbul. It surrounds one of the city’s busiest transportation hubs.
Moda is a pleasant neighborhood in the Kadıköy district of Istanbul. It’s located just south of the center of Kadıköy.
East of the Selimiye neighborhood in the Üsküdar district is the very peaceful Karacaahmet Cemetery (Karacaahmet Mezarlığı). This cemetery is the oldest and largest Ottoman burial ground in Istanbul, founded in the mid-1300s. Over a million people have been buried there.
