The magical Cocora Valley is the home of Colombia’s national tree and symbol, the wax palm. This tall endangered palm dots the landscape of this extension to Los Nevados National Park, which is a popular day trip from nearby Salento.
Salento is without a doubt the most touristy and most visited town in the Coffee Region of Colombia. It’s located in the department of Quindío.
Mistrató is a very small town in the Coffee Region of Colombia. It’s situated in a river valley and surrounded by green mountains.
The small town of Apía sits high in the mountains of Colombia’s Coffee Region. It’s part of the UNESCO World Heritage listed Coffee Cultural Landscape of Colombia and a pleasant off the beaten path place to visit.
Cerritos is a suburb just west of Pereira, Colombia. It’s mostly residential but there are a few great hotels and restaurants in the area. Bioparque Ukumarí and Parque Consotá are also located there.
A guide of where to eat in Pereira. There are a lot of good restaurants to choose from and a good variety of cuisine. Most can be found in the entertainment district along Avenida Circunvalar while the city center has a few decent choices as well.

Because it pulls in a lot of international travelers, there’s plenty of international cuisine to be found as well as traditional Colombian food and vegan specialties. Things change quickly so I’ll try to keep up this post as much as possible.
