I started my exploration of Shumen on Tsar Osvoboditel Street (ulitsa Tsar Osvoboditel). It’s not the main street through town but there were a handful of historic homes along it, some that double as museums.
Shumen was a nice city to visit. There’s not an overwhelming amount to see, but it has a beautiful pedestrian street, some interesting monuments, and the biggest mosque in the country.
The beautiful city of Ruse, Bulgaria, sits on the banks of the Danube River. There are some interesting homes and museums near the river as well as a riverwalk.
Sexaginta Prista (Port of Sixty Ships) is the most important archaeological site in Ruse. It’s a Roman naval base along the Danube River.
Prince Alexander Battenberg Square (Ploshtad Knyaz Aleksandûr Battenberg) is a small square in Ruse named after modern Bulgaria’s first prince.
Aleksandrovska Street
Aleksandrovska Street (ulitsa Aleksandrovska) is a wonderful pedestrianized street in Ruse that leads northeast of Liberation Square and runs for about four blocks. It’s lined with more nice buildings, outdoor restaurants and cafés, and some shops.
Liberation Square (Ploshtad Svoboda) is the main square in Ruse. It’s a beautiful, wide-open space with perfectly manicured gardens and fountains.
Ruse is one of the most beautiful cities in Bulgaria. Located on the Danube River, it has incredible architecture and some interesting attractions.
