Armenia is a small landlocked country in the Caucasus. It’s a fascinating place to explore in a gorgeous natural setting. Although it has a history full of tragedy and tales of survival, the people are friendly and welcoming and generally optimistic about the future.
In addition, the country boasts a lively and modern capital city with a great vibe. You can easily base yourself there and see much of the country on day trips.

Getting to Armenia
Most visitors will fly into Zvartnots International Airport (EVN), which is only about 15 minutes from Yerevan. There are plenty of flights from major cities in Europe and the Middle East. If you’re traveling by land, you can only enter from Georgia and Iran. The border crossings with Turkey and Azerbaijan remain closed (as of October 2024).
Tours of the Country
Armenia is a small country that can easily be seen while based in Yerevan. Most major highlights are within a few hours of the capital and can be done on a day trip. We stayed in Yerevan for our five full days in the country. During that time, we opted to explore Yerevan on our own, but hired Hyur Service for day trips on the other four days.
Hyur Service offers a good variety of tours to all corners of Armenia. They have wonderful professional guides, clean and comfortable vehicles with reliable drivers, and tours are priced fairly. For an extra fee, we even opted for all private tours, which allowed us to spend more time at our destinations and enjoy them without being rushed. I highly recommend Hyur Service to anyone visiting Armenia.
