Since 2018, I’ve been organizing and leading open-group and private Greek heritage tours of Asia Minor as well as cultural, casual, historic, and religious tours of Turkey and Greece.
As a Greek-American with ancestry in Asia Minor, as well as extensive travel and having lived for almost 4 years in Turkey, I can provide a unique experience for anyone interested in the Greek heritage of the region.
Tours are available through my travel company, Paisadventure, on both fixed dates and a private basis. Private tours allow you to keep it closed to travel with friends or family, adjust the itinerary, upgrade hotel class, and choose the dates that work best for you. 2025 Greek Heritage Tour of Asia Minor
This year’s trip includes Constantinople, Cappadocia, the 7 Churches of Revelation (Ephesus, Laodicea, Pergamon, Philadelphia, Thyateira, Sardis, and Smyrna), and Smyrna’s transition to Izmir.
- Learn about the ancient Greek, Early Christian, Byzantine, and post-Byzantine history of Asia Minor.
- Visit places associated with the rise of Christianity in the region to understand their lasting impact on today’s Orthodox Church.
- Introduce yourself to the complicated relationship between Anatolian Greeks and the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum, Ottoman Empire, and modern Turkish Republic.
- Walk through sites related to the Greek Genocide and Population Exchange of 1923.
- Delve into the similarities and differences of Turkish and Greek cuisine.
- Visit 5 UNESCO World Heritage sites and a further 3 on the tentative list.
Tours are limited to only 4 people, allowing for a more relaxed experience and more time at each site. You also have the opportunity to see much more than what you would on a large group tour. We will stay in small locally-owned mid-range boutique hotels. All transportation is in a private vehicle (public transportation in Istanbul). Post-tour extensions to other locations in Turkey or Greece are possible (Pontos and Panagia Soumela, Aivali, Proussa, Footsteps of St. Nicholas, etc.). Contact me for a detailed PDF itinerary.
This year’s open sessions are August 17-29 and September 14-26. As previously mentioned, you can also take this tour privately on the dates of your choice.
Prices are $4925 per person (for groups of 4), $6175 per person (for groups of 3), or $7675 per person (for groups of 2), based on double occupancy, excluding international airfare. Cash discounts are available. If anyone in your party wishes to stay in a private room, it’s an additional $1200.
Reserve your spot with a $250 refundable deposit. 40% non-refundable installment due 60 days before departure, balance due 30 days before departure. If the session doesn’t fill, you’re not obligated to pay the package price for 2 or 3 and your deposit will be refunded.
