Mikrolimano Beach is a small cove on the southwest side of Naxos, Greece. It’s part of the Aliko nature reserve.
Our Experience at Mikrolimano Beach
We were actually trying to get to Aliko Beach but somehow missed the turn. We kept going until the end of the road, where we saw a few cars parked. A few people were walking back to their cars with beach gear and they pointed us towards the beach. We walked over and saw a beautiful little cove surrounded by rocky cliffs. It wasn’t Aliko Beach, but it was exactly what we needed – a beach!
It turned out to be an enjoyable sandy beach with crystal clear water. There were a few boulders and rocks as we were getting in the water, so either be careful or wear water shoes. The best part of the beach is that it was hidden in plain sight and wasn’t crowded at all.
We enjoyed a good hour of peace and quiet and never bothered to get to Aliko Beach. A couple told us to walk over to Hawaii Beach, which is a few minutes walk north, but we didn’t head over there either.
Unfinished Hotel
To get to the beach, you have to walk past an abandoned building. It’s actually the concrete shell of an unfinished hotel. The project was supposed to be a major resort at Aliko but was never completed.
Local graffiti artists use the walls of the hotel as a canvas to show off their work. There were a few impressive murals and we even got to see one of the artists putting the finishing touches on his creation.
