In the section of the Las Vegas Strip between Tropicana Avenue and Flamingo Road, you’ll find the Bellagio along with a few other big resorts. The Bellagio (covered here) is the most extravagant, while a few of the others have some standout features.

South of the Bellagio

Heading south from the Bellagio on the Las Vegas Strip, the Cosmopolitan has a lounge inside a three level chandelier, which is itself a work of art. Next is the Aria (which I stayed at for a week) along with the Shops at Crystals, followed by the Park MGM (formerly the Monte Carlo).

New York-New York

At the northwest corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue, is New York-New York. This resort brings the Big Apple to the desert, complete with some buildings from the New York skyline and a replica Statue of Liberty. It’s beautiful to see both in the day and at night.

The exterior has a Brooklyn Bridge and signs modeled after the New York subway. Thrill seekers will enjoy the Big Apple Coaster, which costs US$25 to ride (as of November 2023).

Inside, it’s worth popping into Hershey’s Chocolate World to see the Statue of Liberty made out of solid chocolate. The casino floor and shopping area makes you feel like you’re on the city streets.

MGM Grand

Across from New York-New York is the MGM Grand. This massive hotel used to have a lion habitat but that was removed. The only lion you’ll see is a golden lion on top of the statue out front.

Paris Las Vegas

Heading north from the MGM Grand, there are lots of smaller shops, hotels, restaurants, and the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino until you come to Paris Las Vegas (directly across from the Bellagio). Immediately transport yourself to the City of Light, complete with an Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe. A hot air balloon serves as the official sign and represents the first hot air balloon flight over Paris in 1783.

The Eiffel Tower is a half-scale replica of the original in Paris, and visitors can take a ride up a glass elevator to an observation deck on the 46th floor. Adult admission starts at US$24.50 (as of November 2023), and tickets can be purchased online.

The casino and shopping area are made to feel like an evening on the streets of Paris, while the lobby feels like a palace.
