Known for its relaxing hot springs and beautiful natural setting, the small town of Jemez Springs, New Mexico, makes for a great day trip destination from nearby Albuquerque. It’s also a pleasant place to spend some extra time.

Our Visit

We stayed the night in Jemez Springs on our way to Bandelier National Monument and explored the town in the morning. It would have been nice to stay another full day or two to take advantage of the hot springs and some of the nature in the area. The only thing we saw in town was Jemez Historic Site.

Jemez Springs makes a nice quiet place to stay if you’re visiting Bandelier National Monument, Valles Caldera National Preserve, or Los Alamos.

Laughing Lizard Inn

We slept at the Laughing Lizard Inn, which is a small inn with four rooms. Our room was very comfortable and nicely decorated.

Highway 4 Coffee

Next door to the Laughing Lizard Inn is Highway 4 Coffee. We had a great dinner there after arriving and checking into the hotel and a delicious breakfast the next morning. Service was excellent and friendly and prices were reasonable.

For dinner, I had a tasty fish and chips meal. For breakfast, the waffle, eggs, and bacon were amazing.
