Anasazi State Park Museum is a museum and Ancestral Puebloan archaeological site. It’s located in Boulder, Utah, along Scenic Byway 12.
Admission
Admission is US$5 (as of September 2024) and it’s open daily from 9am to 5pm. Anasazi State Park Museum is an easy day trip from Torrey or Capitol Reef National Park.
Museum
In the museum, there are excellent interactive displays about the Ancestral Puebloans and how they lived. Exhibits include several artifacts and examples of typical homes. There’s also a short film worth watching to learn more about the site.
Archaeological Site
Behind the museum are ruins of a village inhabited between 1050 and 1200. The village is often referred to as the Coombs Village Site. A self-guided trail with interpretive panels takes visitors around the site.
It’s estimated that 250 people lived at the site, which is mostly unexcavated. About 90 rooms have been discovered.
Replica Dwelling
Near the ruins, there’s a replica block of rooms built with the same materials the Ancestral Puebloans used to build their village. Three residential rooms and three food storage rooms are represented.
