Moab is a small town in eastern Utah that makes a great base for visiting nearby Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. There are other natural destinations in the area as well as a good scenic drive.

Sun Outdoors Arches Gateway

We stayed at Sun Outdoors Arches Gateway (formerly Moab Valley RV Resort and Campground), which is north of downtown and near the entrance to Arches. They have very large and clean bathrooms to complement the campsites. There’s also a swimming pool onsite. We arrived well after hours due to an unexpected flat tire and an envelope with our campsite info was waiting for us at the office.

Atomic Grill (Permanently Closed)

We only had a couple meals in Moab. First, we tried the Atomic Grill, which is north of downtown near our campground. I had a delicious meatloaf on a bed of mac and cheese. The burgers looked great, too.

Pantele’s Desert Deli (Permanently Closed)

For another lunch, I visited Pantele’s Desert Deli near the museum downtown. The sandwich and salad I had were both excellent with fresh ingredients and reasonably priced.

City Market

We stocked up on food supplies at City Market, a supermarket south of downtown on Main Street. It’s a huge place with everything you need.
