Hıdırlık Hill (Hıdırlık Tepesi) is a small hill overlooking the UNESCO World Heritage listed old town of Safranbolu. It’s worth the short hike up to the top, where there’s also a tea garden.
Views
At the tea garden, find a table, have a seat, and enjoy the scenery. You can sip on the local specialty, saffron tea, while enjoying the best panoramic views of town. Ottoman homes, mosques, and other important buildings are all easy to spot.
Tomb
The tomb of Hasan Pasha (Hasan Paşa Türbesi) is located at the top of the hill. It dates back to 1845.
A couple other tombs can be found as well, including the tomb of Dr. Ali Yaver Ataman (1868-1955), a hero of Turkish independence. Another tomb belongs to Hıdır Bey who lived during the period of Sultan Orhan (Orhan Gazi), the second Ottoman sultan. He was a commander under Şehzade Gazi Süleyman Pasha (d. 1357), a son of Orhan who played an important role in Ottoman expansion into Thrace in the 1350s and died after falling from his horse in 1357.
