On my 2nd day in Egypt, I visited Dahshur and Memphis. I woke up, had a quick breakfast, and headed for the lobby of the hotel. Bishoy, my guide for the day, introduced himself and escorted me to a decrepit old van. The driver was great, but the fumes from the van were making me a little sick.
From the modern center of Afyon, I walked to the historic part of the city. The old town has some of the most beautiful Ottoman homes in Turkey.
Afyon has a few points of interest in the city center. I started exploring there before checking out some more important sites.
Uşak is an Anatolian city located in an area untouched by tourism, and for good reason. There’s not much of interest in this city to detour travelers, but there’s enough to keep someone busy for a few hours. All in all, it’s skippable.
I visited three different museums on my trip to Kütahya. They’re all located near each other at the end of Republic Street.

Saint Catherine’s Monastery (Μονὴ τῆς Ἁγίας Αἰκατερίνης) is the oldest continuously inhabited Christian monastery in the world. It’s located at the foot of Mount Sinai in the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt.
Çekirge is a neighborhood a little ways outside of the historic city center of Bursa. The area is mostly residential but has a few historic places worth visiting.
The Great Palace Mosaics Museum (Büyük Saray Mozaikleri Müzesi) in Istanbul displays mosaics unearthed at the site of the Great Palace of Constantinople. The museum is included in the UNESCO World Heritage listing for the Historic Areas of Istanbul.
