The absolute best thing we did in Ibagué was visit the Jardín Botánico San Jorge. It’s an impeccably maintained and incredibly beautiful botanical garden with three trails. There are lookouts at the end of each trail with views of the city.
Allow between one and three hours per visit, depending on which trails you decide to do. It’s well worth the visit. Admission is COP$10,000 per person. It’s pretty far from town, so a taxi is necessary. It shouldn’t cost more than COP$5,000 for the ride, and the person at the guardhouse can call you a taxi when you finish.
Highlights include several different species of flowers and plants, along with a small lake filled with turtles.
