Across the street from the entrance to Iguaçu National Park is Parque das Aves (Bird Park). With several species of tropical birds from all over the Brazilian and South American rain forests, it’s well worth a visit.

Visiting the Park

Parque das Aves opened in 1994 and is privately owned. It’s set within 40 acres of forest and supports a good cause, as most of the birds are rescued and being rehabbed. The park is open daily from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Admission is BRA$80 (as of May 2023).

Sections

Visitors to the park follow a path running through several different sections. Some of the sections include small species, birds of the rivers and mangroves, reptiles, raptors, parrots, a butterfly house, and owls. As you can see, there are more than just birds at the park. There’s also a section on how the birds are rescued and rehabilitated.

The coolest part of the complex are the open cages where visitors can walk right up to colorful birds like toucans and macaws. Try not to get pooped on!
