To Bahari

Karfas (Καρφάς) is a resort area in Chios with lots of hotels, tavernas, bars, and cafes. The seaside promenade hosts many of them, but I really enjoy eating at To Bahari (Το Μπαχάρι). Tim, Nilda, Canan, and I ate there twice in a week and were extremely happy with the quality of the food and the friendly and attentive service. It’s located on the main road through the village.

For our first dinner, we shared several dishes. Our favorites were the baked eggplants topped with cheese and tomato, octopus, calamari, and Greek salad. We also had skordalia, fried zucchini, loukaniko (Greek sausage), and beets.

For our second dinner, we had many of the same dishes and added a few more, including horta (greens), souvlaki, and grilled shrimp.

For both dinners, we washed down our meal with Fresh Chios Beer and a bottle Ouzo Psyhis. Both are locally made products.

Also, we were given complimentary desserts after each meal.

Our meals were in the €50 to €60 range each time, which was a great deal considering the amount of food we ordered including drinks. We also had a vegetarian in our group, Nilda, and there were plenty of options on the menu for her.
