The night before my Chernobyl tour from Kyiv, I decided to take advantage of the sunlight with a relaxing one hour Dnieper River cruise with Riverest.

I went to the Kyiv River Port in Podil, bought my ticket to the Panorama Kyiv tour, and boarded the boat. The cruise costs ₴200 (as of October 2023) and there were snacks and drinks available for purchase onboard.

The Cruise

The cruise was anything but relaxing (I wasn’t in the mood to be blasted with Russian techno music for an hour) but it provided me with some alternative views of the city and passed some major landmarks along the way.

The first part of the cruise went a bit towards the north where I was able to catch a glimpse of the construction of the Podilsko-Voskresenskyi Bridge.

We then turned around and went south past a beach and under the Pedestrian Bridge.

The next 20 minutes were spent cruising towards the south and under the Metro Bridge while the Russian techno music destroyed my eardrums.

Finally, as the sun began to set, I was able to spot some well-known landmarks in the city – Kyiv Pechersk Lavra and the Motherland Monument (Rodina Mat).

As we approached the end of the cruise, I enjoyed watching a fisherman try his luck. I also got to see a zipliner heading across the river. Near the end, we passed the Pillar of the Magdeburg Rights (the oldest monument in the city dating back to 1802), and the St. Volodymyr monument.
