The seaside in Sinop is a pleasant place to pass the time away. During my visit to the city, I enjoyed the south side of the peninsula around the harbor.

Harbor

West of the city walls is the harbor. It’s a nice place to walk and also to get a delicious reasonably priced fish meal at one of the many restaurants that sit along it.

Aşıklar Street

On the other side of the walls from the harbor is a seaside path called Aşıklar Street (Aşıklar Caddesi). It’s a great place to walk day or night. The pedestrian road runs along the beautiful Barış Manço Park (Barış Manço Parkı), named for a famous Turkish rock star. If you walk all the way to the end there are lots of booths selling street food, crafts, souvenirs, and more along the way. It’s really a lively place to be.

Cruises

From the western end of Aşıklar Street, many boats offer short one hour cruises for a small fee. The cruises are fun and you get to see Sinop from a different perspective.

Pier

A long pier between the harbor and Aşıklar Street seems to be a popular place for locals to hang out. Many were fishing or just sitting and chatting. The views of the city are fantastic, especially at night.
